Mono-opera “Waiting”
Based on poems by R. Rozhdestvensky
✨Mikael Tariverdiev’s mono-opera “Waiting” based on the poems of Robert Rozhdestvensky “Monologue of a Woman” can easily be called the pearl of the joint work of two geniuses of the 20th century.
“I...wanted to make it about a woman, about a woman who is waiting. That summer, Robert Rozhdestvensky was ill. He was in the hospital. We came to Robert. ... After some meaningless conversations, it suddenly burst out from me: “If you would do something for me... Would you write a mono-opera? About a woman. And suddenly Robert added: “Who is waiting.” I just froze: “Well, yes, exactly who is waiting.” Robert continued: “Under the clock. They are always waiting under the clock.” “A clock is good,” I agreed.”
