 Perhaps no other great composer of the 18th, 19th, or even 20th century has had his life documented as precisely and comprehensively as Mozart. And no one else has been surrounded by so many myths. Phenomenal abilities almost from birth, the early emergence of his compositional genius, the brevity of his earthly life and the vastness of his output, and finally, the mysterious death and humble burial in a common grave — all these are authentic facts that gave rise to the legend.

 It is impossible to find another composer who mastered such a wide variety of genres and forms with the brilliance of Mozart: this applies to the symphony and the concerto, the divertimento and the quartet, the opera and the mass, the sonata and the trio.
